Alex Bates is the founder and CEO of HelloSky, the agentic talent intelligence platform used by executive search, venture capital and private equity firms to find and rank leadership talent from a point-in-time graph of executives, companies and investors. He was interviewed on the NYSE trading floor on Today on NYSE Live (Oct 2026) and has spoken at the Davos AI Summit during World Economic Forum week, the Harvard Club of New York City, Stanford and Google, and Hunt Scanlon’s PE/VC recruiting summits.

Before HelloSky, Alex was co-founder and CTO of Mtell, whose machine-learning platform monitored global fleets of industrial assets; Mtell was acquired by AspenTech (NASDAQ: AZPN) in 2016. He is the lead inventor on three issued patents in machine learning and equipment taxonomies, and earlier applied analytics to some of the world’s largest data warehouses at Teradata.

Alex is the author of Augmented Mind, on how AI combined with human intelligence can unlock human potential. He holds degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science with a concentration in Neuroscience, performed DARPA-funded neural-network research, and authored five peer-reviewed publications as an undergraduate.
